"what have I learnt about....?"

Scripting
Our short film had little scripting in it at all and was much more visual in telling the story. As we added music throughout the whole of our film, it was in danger of appearing too much like a music video, so to help resolve this, we did add some dialect to the piece in terms of a VoiceOver.! There wasn't a lot said however , so it wasn't nescesarrily planned and scripted and instead a last minute alteration that we added. I have learnt that in the future I will be sure to script and make note of all dialect to make sure my work is really water tight and just as I want !

Storyboarding
We relied more on our story boards for this task and I had never really used them before, but I really like them and think they are a great way of recording ideas you've got in your head with rough sketches. Also each frame can signify different cuts , times and music changes so they are a great way of planning properly.

Locations
This task taught me that you need to make the most of the space you are given and be imaginative. At first being told to film in school wasn't good news, as the space seemed limited, but there is actually so much you can do to create a great transitional piece with different locations if you put your mind to it!!

Talent
With this task I learnt that finding people to cooperate with the ideas and outcomes you have in mind, can be quite tricky. Many people refused to be in front of the camera due to being "camera shy" and not wanting to look like a fool. Therefore I decided that the main character should be me, as I can rely on myself to get the job done and I understand the direction of the film and what is wanted. Aulthough in the end, the other participants in the film did eventually get what we wanted, it was a struggle and time consuming as they are not nescesarrily in the same mindset as those who are actually creating the film.

Organisation
We were organised in this task I believe, as we had a clear idea of what we wanted in our heads so we didn't really waste any time when it came to filming the piece. However we were slightly last minute interms of casting other people and this is an example of where timed pressure could potentially have an effect on what the outcome will be. Of course ideas will develop from the original plan that you created, however I have learnt it is crucial to at least have these basic ideas in order to not panic and create a better film!!

Teamwork
Myself and my partner worked well as a team. She was in charge of filming whilst I was acting for the camera! We both understood what we wanted the film to be like so it was pretty simple. However I have learnt that relying on others can be tricky in terms of other people such as other actors in the piece being slightly more reluctant.

Editing
We were already pretty used to the software of making videos on the macs, however I have learnt through this process how to put music and voice recordings on to the video. In terms of editing to give across the correct message to the audience,  we had already learnt about this prior to making the film so I learnt how to apply that to a film we were making where previousley we were just analysing them.
